Spend the day immersed in finishing, creativity, and community at beautiful Deer Stone Lodge.

This full-day workshop combines Round Ornament Finishing in the morning with Irregular Ornament Finishing in the afternoon, giving you the opportunity to learn two of my most popular finishing techniques in a single day.

Between sessions, enjoy a relaxed lunch break while browsing a carefully curated pop-up of kitted canvases from some of my favorite local needlepoint shops. After the afternoon workshop, you're invited to stay for Open Stitch & Community Time, giving everyone a chance to relax, stitch, ask questions, and enjoy time together before heading home.

Whether you're looking to build confidence in your finishing skills or simply spend the day with fellow stitchers, this workshop is designed to be more than just a class—it's a day dedicated to creativity, learning, and community.

Your Day

Morning Session

Round Ornament Finishing
9:30 AM–12:00 PM

Learn the complete process of finishing a traditional round ornament, from preparation and construction to custom cording and final assembly.

Lunch & Pop-Up

12:00 PM–1:30 PM

Enjoy lunch on your own while shopping a curated selection of kitted canvases from some of my favorite local needlepoint shops.

Afternoon Session

Irregular Ornament Finishing
1:30 PM–4:00 PM

Learn techniques for finishing unique ornament shapes, including door hangers, specialty ornaments, and other non-round designs.

Open Stitch & Community Time

4:00 PM–5:30 PM

Wrap up the day with a relaxed stitching session exclusively for October 8 participants. Bring your current project, visit with fellow stitchers, and enjoy a little extra time together before heading home.

What to Bring

Please bring:

• One completed stitched round canvas

• One completed stitched irregular ornament (door hanger or specialty shape)

• Backing fabric for each project

• Cording materials in the colors of your choice

• I recommend DMC #5 Pearl Cotton for making custom cording

Additional finishing materials used during class will be provided.

Join me for a hands-on Round Ornament Finishing class at Deer Stone Lodge.

In this morning session, we’ll work through the process of turning your completed stitched round canvas into a beautifully finished ornament. We’ll cover preparing your canvas, building the structure, working with backing fabric, assembling the piece, and adding the finishing details that bring everything together.

This class is designed to give you not only hands-on experience with the project you bring, but the skills and confidence to finish future round ornaments on your own.

What to Bring

Please bring:

• One completed stitched round canvas

• Backing fabric of your choice

• Cording materials in the colors of your choice

• I prefer and recommend DMC #5 Pearl Cotton for cording

Additional finishing materials needed during class will be provided.

A Little Something Extra

Following the morning session, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the lunch break and shop a carefully curated selection of kitted canvases from some of my favorite local needlepoint shops before the afternoon session begins.

This registration is for the morning Round Ornament Finishing session only.

Take your finishing skills beyond the basics in this hands-on Irregular Ornament Finishing workshop.

During this afternoon session, you'll learn the techniques needed to finish unique ornament shapes—including door hangers, specialty ornaments, and other non-round designs. Together, we'll cover preparing your stitched canvas, creating smooth curves and points, selecting backing fabric, assembling your project by hand, and adding custom cording for a polished finish.

By the end of class, you'll leave with the confidence and techniques to tackle a variety of specialty ornament shapes on your own.

What to Bring

Please bring:

• One completed stitched canvas suitable for irregular ornament finishing

• Backing fabric of your choice

• Cording materials in the colors of your choice

• I recommend DMC #5 Pearl Cotton for making custom cording

Additional finishing materials used during class will be provided.

Before Class

Participants are welcome to arrive during the lunch break beginning at 12:00 PM to enjoy the curated needlepoint pop-up featuring kitted canvases from some of my favorite local needlepoint shops before the afternoon workshop begins.

Following class, all October 8 participants are invited to stay for Open Stitch & Community Time from 4:00–5:30 PM.

This registration is for the afternoon Irregular Ornament Finishing session only.

Join me at beautiful Deer Stone Lodge for a full day dedicated to one of my favorite finishing techniques—creating a beautifully constructed gusseted stand-up.

Together, we'll work through the entire finishing process, from preparing your stitched canvas and measuring your materials to assembling the piece by hand and adding custom cording. My goal is for you to leave with not only a finished project, but the confidence to create future stand-ups on your own.

This workshop is intentionally designed to be more than a class. It's an opportunity to slow down, enjoy a day with fellow stitchers, ask questions, learn new techniques, and spend time in a relaxed, encouraging environment before the holiday season begins.

With the lodge already beautifully decorated, it's the perfect setting to gather with fellow stitchers, enjoy a relaxed day of learning, and head into the holidays with new finishing skills and lasting friendships.

Your deposit:

• Secures your place in the finishing queue

• Is applied to your final finishing invoice

• Allows me to begin planning and scheduling your project

• Helps ensure a smooth, organized finishing process for every client

Once your reservation is complete, simply follow the Getting Started Guide on the website to prepare your stitching and submit the appropriate project forms.

• Deposits are non-refundable but are fully credited toward your final invoice.

• Your place in the queue is confirmed once both your deposit and completed project paperwork have been received.

• If your stitching is not received within 15 days of reserving your spot, your reservation may be released.
