Have you ever finished stitching a beautiful needlepoint canvas, only to wonder how in the world you're supposed to finish all those curves, corners, and unusual shapes?
Join us for a hands-on workshop dedicated to the fundamentals of irregular-shaped ornament finishing!
Unlike traditional round ornaments, irregular shapes present their own unique challenges. From navigating tight curves and inside corners to achieving smooth edges and a beautifully polished finish, we'll work through the techniques, tools, and little tricks that make all the difference.
Whether you're building on skills learned in a previous round finishing class or looking to expand your finishing abilities, this workshop will help you develop the confidence to tackle those not-so-perfectly-round projects!
How to properly prepare an irregular-shaped stitched canvas for finishing
Techniques for navigating curves, points, and inside corners
How to shape and assemble irregular ornaments
How to create custom cording to complement your project
Tips for attaching cording neatly around challenging shapes
Practical techniques for achieving a professional-looking finish
One completed, stitched irregular-shaped needlepoint canvas, preferably with two to three extra rows of stitching
Backing fabric of your choice
DMC #5 Pearl Cotton in your preferred colors for custom cording
Your favorite stitching scissors or personal tools, if desired
All necessary classroom tools and instructional supplies will be provided.
This is a hands-on instructional workshop. While we'll work through the finishing process together, completion of your ornament during class is not guaranteed.
Some experience with basic needlepoint finishing is helpful, but students who are new to finishing are welcome!
Class size is limited to allow for personalized instruction, individual guidance, and plenty of opportunities for questions.
Registration Policy: Class registrations are nonrefundable. If you're unable to attend, your payment may be applied as credit toward another class or finishing services.
