Have you ever finished stitching a beautiful needlepoint canvas and dreamed of turning it into a pillow, but weren't quite sure where to begin?
I'm excited to partner with Quilting at the Beach for the first class in our new Pillow Finishing Series!
We'll begin with the fundamentals of constructing a classic knife-edge needlepoint pillow, including learning how to create and apply custom fabric piping for a beautiful, polished finish.
This hands-on workshop is designed to help you understand the process of pillow construction, become more comfortable using a sewing machine, and develop the skills and confidence to finish your own needlepoint pillows.
How to prepare your stitched needlepoint canvas for pillow finishing
How to measure and prepare backing fabric
How to create custom fabric piping
Techniques for attaching piping to your needlepoint canvas
How to assemble and construct a classic knife-edge pillow
Tips and techniques for achieving a professional-looking finish
One completed, stitched needlepoint canvas suitable for a pillow
Backing fabric of your choice
Coordinating fabric for your custom piping
Your own sewing machine, if you prefer to use it
Favorite sewing scissors and personal tools, if desired
Don't own a sewing machine? No problem! Students are welcome to bring their own machines or use one of the sewing machines available during class.
Quilting at the Beach has a wonderful selection of fabrics, making it a great opportunity to find the perfect backing and piping fabrics for your project!
Pillow Finishing 101 is the first class in a progressive series designed to help stitchers build their finishing skills one technique at a time.
Future classes will explore more advanced construction techniques, including Pillow Finishing 201: Boxed Pillows & Zippers, along with additional pillow finishing methods.
This is a hands-on instructional workshop. Our focus is on learning and practicing pillow construction techniques, and completion of your pillow during class is not guaranteed.
Class size will be limited to allow for individual guidance, hands-on instruction, and plenty of opportunities for questions.
Registration Policy: Class registrations are nonrefundable. If you're unable to attend, your payment may be applied as credit toward another class or finishing services.
